Swiss Excursion, Part II

Today's excursions involved more people than yesterday. New to the cast of characters were Franziska's mother and brother's girl-friend Linda. The five of us loaded into a car, and headed out to the mountains. The plan was to take a sky-lift (suspension train??) to the top of one of the Swiss Mountains (which one?) where I would see incredible views of Switzerland. Sounded like fun to me, and it was. Here are some photos we took; see for yourself how beautiful it is.

Next we visited a cheese-making-place at the bottom of the mountain, and then took a scenic route "home" so that I could get a good sampling of the architecture in the different towns along the way.

Today we awoke early, so that we could catch the correct train into town. Ruth and Franziska told me the plan was to visit the capital city of Bern. Sounded like another excellent idea. (These gals are full of good ideas!) Unfortunately the legislative buildings were closed, however we did visit many interesting sites. These included the visitor's center where we saw several of the city's mascots: brown bears. Also at the visitor's center we watched a multimedia presentation about the history of Bern. Did you know that when Nepolian invaded Bern he "kidnapped" the bears? They were later returned.
